TRIMS was piloted in Nigeria. It is anchored at the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, and the main advocacy partner is NANTS, the National Association of Nigerian Traders. Regularly, representatives of all relevant security operatives (e.g. Police, Customs) discuss with representatives from private sector on the situation on Nigeria's trade routes and a common action plan is being worked out.

The project commenced in 2013, when GIZ in collaboration with Ogun State Government and OGUNCCIMA piloted an SMS-based technology to report bribes, delays, and harassments. Over time, this technology was replaced by a much more flexible mobile app. The distribution of the app was supported by the European Union. TRIMS can since be used throughout Nigeria.
